You will explore the main categories of spirits, learn to recognise their styles, and develop a simple yet precise vocabulary to speak about them with confidence.
Through a selection that combines iconic references with artisanal gems, you will gain an initial understanding of aromas and production methods, and be able to share your learnings with confidence.
ONLINE WSET LEVEL 1 IN SPIRITS : BEGINNER LEVEL
Courses are delivered in English through WSET’s official international online platform.
You have complete flexibility to decide when and where you connect to follow your study programme at your own pace.
On the platform, you will join a global community of students and have the opportunity to exchange with your teacher, who is available online throughout the course.
Your learning journey will include videos, images, flashcards, quizzes, and a mock exam to help you prepare with confidence.
All study materials are provided in English.
You can choose to take your exam online or in person at our centres in Paris or Marseille.
TASTING KIT
You can choose to receive a WSET level 1 in spirits dedicated tasting kit with 11 spirits samples, it is optional but very helpful !

Who is this training for ?
This online course is the perfect entry point to the world of spirits. Ideal for the beginner spirits enthusiast, or those starting a career in spirits, mixology or hospitality.
The structure of the course
Your training : 4 weeks of training online. Your exam : your exam can be taken online or in person (Paris or Marseille). Exams are held every month and you can choose your exam date (within 6 months). Registrations are closing 10 working days before the start of a session.
What’s covered ?
• The main categories and international styles of spirit • The principles of creating balanced cocktails • How to describe spirit using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirit® (SAT)
Assessment
A 45 minutes final exam will take place. To obtain your certification, you will have to correctly answer 70% of the 30 multiple-choice questions. You will receive your result by email about 4 weeks after your exam date. Your certificate and pin will then be mailed to you. The success rate of our students in this exam is 100% in 2024. You can retake the exam if you do not pass for a fee of 100 euros.
Pre-requisite and accessibility
This training does not require prior knowledge of wine. You must be 18 years old to register. Excellent comprehension and writing in the selected language are also encouraged to follow the course.
