The structure of the course Toggle FAQ

The WSET 3 in spirits training includes 30 hours of classroom lessons, taught by certified trainers, and 60 hours of personal work. The course takes place over two weeks. It consists of a first 3-day session, followed by a break. The second 2-days sends with your WSET exam. Your WSET teaching materials will be given to you when you register, to allow you to prepare for your session. You will find the essential points covered during the training, as well as tasting grids and self-assessment exercises. We recommend a minimum of 60 hours of personal work in preparation for your training.

Assessment Toggle FAQ

At the end of your session, you will be assessed on the knowledge acquired during a closed book test. To pass unit 1, you will have to answer 50 multiple choice questions, as well as four short written questions in 2 hours. To pass unit 2, you will be subject to a blind tasting test of two spirits, during which you will be asked to describe a spirit precisely and to analyse its quality. To get your WSET 3 certificate, you will have to answer 55% of the questions properly for each of the units. In the event that you fail the exam, it is possible to take it again. The cost of registration for a resit is 170 euros for the theory test and 170 euros for the practical test, 340 euros in total if you have to re-sit both tests.

Having obtained the WSET 2 Award in Spirits or being able to prove an equivalent level of knowledge is strongly suggested in order to succeed in this training. You must be 18 years old on the day of training. Registrations close 10 working days before the start date of the session or as soon as the maximum capacity of the session is reached. It is important to allocate 60 hours of personal work before starting the training. Each session accommodates 10 participants maximum.
