Taking the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is the perfect introduction to understanding and appreciating wine.
You will explore the main wine styles, learn to recognise aromas, and develop a simple yet precise vocabulary to describe them.
By the end of the course, you will be able to speak about wine with confidence and pair it with food to enhance your tasting and sharing experiences.

Courses are delivered in English through WSET’s official international online platform.
You have complete flexibility to decide when and where you connect to follow your study programme at your own pace.
On the platform, you will join a global community of students and have the opportunity to exchange with your teacher, who is available online throughout the course.
Your learning journey will include videos, images, flashcards, quizzes, and a mock exam to help you prepare with confidence.
All study materials are provided in English.
You can choose to take your exam online or in person at our centres in Paris or Marseille.

Who is this training for ?
This online course is the perfect entry point to the world of wine. Ideal for the beginner wine enthusiast, or those starting a career in wine or hospitality.
The structure of the course
Your training : 4 weeks of training online. Your exam : your exam can be taken online or in person (Paris or Marseille). Exams are held every month and you can choose your exam date (within 6 months). Registrations are closing 10 working days before the start of a session.
What is covered ?
• The main types and styles of wine • Common wine grapes and their characteristics • How to make food and wine pairings • Tasting of six wines with educator feedback (students to provide their own samples or look for our tasting kit) • How to store and serve wine • How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
Assessment
A 45 minutes final exam will take place. To obtain your certification, you will have to correctly answer 70% of the 30 multiple-choice questions. You will receive your result by email about 4 weeks after your exam date. Your certificate and pin will then be mailed to you. The success rate of our students in this exam is 100% in 2024. You can retake the exam if you do not pass for a fee of 100 euros.
Pre-requisite and accessibility
This training does not require prior knowledge of wine. You must be 18 years old to register. Excellent comprehension and writing in the selected language are also encouraged to follow the course.
